Coat Drive

We are looking for slightly used to new coats to be donated to the Blessings Repeated store in Plankinton.  This store is a Mission store and helps purchase food items for the Snack Packs, donates clothing and supplies to the reservations, donates toiletry items to our veterans and so much more.  It is a non-profit store that is run by volunteers and every penny earned goes right back to the community.

You can help by dropping off coats at the Mount Vernon School. There is a box right at the front door, all you have to do is bring it in!  Thank you for helping make this a warm winter for everyone!

Large Group Choir and Band Results

The band and choir had a GREAT day on Wednesday. We had 5 groups perform and everybody had a fantastic performance!  Our groups also scored well!

This is not a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, competition.  There are three judges for each group, they give you a raw score out of 35.  If you earn a 31 or higher from two or more of the judges, it is considered a “superior rating” overall.

Jazz Choir 34, 31, 30 (Superior!)
Mixed Choir 28, 29, 30
Men’s Choir 28, 30, 28
Women’s Choir 29, 27, 27
Concert Band 28, 31, 29

Thank you for your support and flexibility in helping make this day a success!

Boys Track Start Dates

BOYS TRACK:  As Track season is upon us, I would like to keep the boys informed of when practice is starting. We will start the season at different times for different athletes because of how the seasons end for wrestling, basketball, and those that are not involved in winter sports.

The boys that were in wrestling, and boys that were not in any other winter sports will start on March 13. I think the wrestlers need a good 2 week break from the grueling season. I hope that is enough time. I know there are probably some looming injuries that we want to take care of before we jump into another season of sports.

For the basketball boys, we will tentatively start on the 27th if they make the state tournament. If they do not make the state tournament, we will have to look at where they are physically and go from there for a start time. We already have an indoor meet in Mitchell on the 28th, so we will monitor how the athletes are feeling and if they are ready to go for the 28th. It would be a good practice session none the less. I know there are a lot of things going on like the senior trip and such so we probably will not have a full team.

Jr. High boys will start on March 20 as their first meet is not until April 13.

Thanks – Coach Bruinsma
