Dear MVSD Patrons: We hope you are all well. The purpose of the message is to inform you about the winter sports home attendance expectations in Mount Vernon and Plankinton. At this time there is no attendance restrictions, however the wearing of masks and social distancing is strongly encouraged. Changes in home attendance limitations will be based on the virus’ spread in the two school district communities. This is a very fluid situation that can change quickly so please stay alert to schedule and messaging updates. We will inform the public of such changes as timely as possible.
One item of concern is the downtown gym in Mt. Vernon. If your child is playing an event in there, it will essentially be impossible to social distance due to the size and lack of seating. We respectfully ask that you give even stronger consideration to wearing a mask in this facility as well as vacate the facility once your child is done playing so other parents will be able to attend.
Many of the MVP opponents ARE limiting fan attendance and/or mandating masks in their facilities. We will do our best to communicate our opponent’s expectations for our fans also in a timely manner. We always encourage all MVP fans to abide by the host schools COVID policies and expectations. We feel strongly that we owe it to the student athletes to practice the mitigation strategies in hopes of having a complete and successful winter sports season.
