UPDATE - Spring Sports Photos
Spring Sport Photos for anyone that is going to the Corn Palace Relays today will be done on Thursday April 20th @ 3 pm. All Golf and JH Track will be taken today as previously scheduled at 2:30 pm.

During title time, second graders explored the different sounds made with the letter o. There are 6. The word Colorado uses 3 different sounds for o.

We had two sophomores audition for senior honor choir! If selected, they will spend a week this summer in Sioux Falls practicing for a final concert. We also had seven elementary students audition for elementary honor choir as well- we will find out results for both in May!

The 8th graders worked on some drumming this morning and the 6th and 7th graders are working hard for their upcoming band concert on May 11th!


Preschool/Kindergarten Round-Up scheduled for Monday, May 1st @ 6:30 pm.

Reminder to National Honor Society applicants: The NHS application packets are due to Sue by Friday, April 14th at 1:00 p.m. No late applications will be accepted.
First grade took advance of the beautiful weather today and practiced our math facts outside! We played Around the World! Lawton was our winner!






This month's school board meeting has been rescheduled to this Thursday (13th) @ 6pm.
Don't forget to get out and vote for Mount Vernon School Board - Tuesday April 11, 2023 7:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Senior Citizen's Center.




The preschoolers colored their eggs yesterday and then Mrs. Ewing and her 3rd grade class hid them around their classroom for us and let us come on an Easter egg hunt! Thank you 3rd graders & Mrs. Ewing!

2nd grade had a visitor this week. Trooper Samantha Pulse came into our classroom to review safety rules and teach us about her equipment. We even got to see her patrol car! Thank you Trooper Pulse for your service!

Preschoolers are busy with Easter center activities 🐣 this week!




Trooper Pulse from the South Dakota Highway Patrol visited the 2nd graders. The students were engaged with a presentation about safety.


1st graders are solving the Case of the Egg Thief! Who Dun it?!
They have to use their skills to solve math problems, then fill in the letters to make a clue, then use all the clues to figure out who stole the Easter Eggs from the basket! It is a fun way to review skills!





The 4th graders were exploring density in science.




1st graders are learning about the moon and stars in Science! Today we used push pins and paper cups to poke out the Big Dipper and other stars. Then we used a flashlight to shine through our cups to project the Big Dipper on the ceiling and walls.
