The elementary and middle school students have outside recess. The morning temperatures are getting colder. Please make sure your child has a coat, hat, and gloves. Thank you.

November 22nd (Thanksgiving Break)
HS Students will dismiss at 11:50 am.
PK-8 will dismiss at 12:45 pm.
Buses will leave after PK-8 dismisses - any HS student that needs to ride the bus will have a study hall until 12:45 pm.
I had the opportunity to have donuts with another great group of students today. Thanks for making good choices.

I am so proud of the work this young woman continues to do in the fine arts sector! Sabrina was selected to sing the National Anthem at State Volleyball in Rapid today- she did a wonderful job ❤️


Olivia Meier, Sabrina Strand, Reagan Rus, and Berkeley Engelland competed in the Region 2B Oral Interp contest on Tuesday. Olivia competed in humorous, and Sabrina in storytelling. Berkeley and Reagan advance to State with their duet "The Twisting-Turning Death Machine."

Turkey Bingo - November 19th - The Hall 3 pm

1st graders completed a Turkey in Disguise project. They created a disguise for the Turkey, and hide the Turkey in the elementary hallways. Then the 5th grade judged the turkeys and voted on Best overall Turkey, Best Handwriting, Most Creative, Best Coloring and Best hiding spot.










As more students presented their Anchor Activity projects this week, we had a project about how we should care for puppies. This student brought her actual puppies from home to demonstrate training.

The 4th grade students participated in a drama last week titled "Ranita", They had to memorize their parts for each scene and did a great job!




Our student teacher from DWU, Miss Sternhagen, had her last day with 2nd and 3rd-grade students today. We are sad to see Miss "S" go but are very thankful for all the time and hard work she put in at Mt. Vernon School! Best of Luck Miss Sternhagen.!


First Grade Working on ELA Centers


This week students fulfilled several ELA standards by researching and reporting on a topic of their choice. We call these our Anchor Activities. Horses were a topic of choice by one of our students and she even brought her miniature horse as her visual aid!



At the Veteran's Day Program the 4th grade finalists were able to read their poems they wrote last year.




Senior Project Reminder:
Leading Ladies for 3rd-6th grade girls starts on Sunday from 3 pm - 4:30 pm. Please drop off and pick up at the Tom Young Community Center doors. Hope to see you there!
