Back to school night for elementary is Monday 8/12/2024 from 6-7:30 - start in the TYCC(gym) and end the evening with grilled hot dogs, ice cream and chips cooked and served by the School Board Members.
Mark your calendars for our Pre-Season Sports meeting for parents and athletes on August 7th. It will be at 6pm in Plankinton.
The 50th HS Honor Choir & Reunion Choir concert is here! Sabrina has been rehearsing for the past week at USF for the concert at the Washington Pavilion tonight (link to be shared at a later date). So proud of this young lady and excited to sing with her later tonight!

In order to meet state requirements the Mount Vernon School has had some price increases. Now is also a good time to add to your child's lunch account. We accept cash or check and these can be either dropped off at the office or mailed to Mount Vernon School - PO Box 46, Mount Vernon, SD 57363. Please review the following prices for meals:
Breakfast - PK-12 - $2.25
Lunch - PK-5 - $3.10; 6-8 - $3.40; 9-12 - $3.40
Adult - $5.00
Senior Meals - $3.00
Free and Reduced Applications are also available in the office, on the website or email me

HELPERS NEEDED!!! The sod for the baseball field is going to be here tomorrow and we want to install it Saturday. We have lots of other work to do at the field as well and will take any helpers we can get. We are getting close to completion! If you can help, please shoot Eric Denning a text at 605-770-2854 so we know what to expect and can be efficient with our work force. Thank you!
The Mitchell Public Library invites all students to participate in their summer reading program and summer events.
Pre-K students have been playing with the lemonade stand for Dramatic Play for the last few weeks of school. They asked to be able to make REAL lemonade too, so we did!
We partnered up with the 4th grade class to help us calculate all supplies and totals needed to serve a lemonade to each student. 4th graders and Mrs. Klooz helped us set up the shop outside during last recess and aided the Pre-k students in serving.
We served a lemonade to students in grades Pk-5 during last recess. Students were able to receive a voucher to our lemonade stand if they were "caught doing the right thing", thankful to our awesome kids, I think we were able to serve everyone!
We are still looking to fill some assistant/JH coaching positions for the 2024-2025 school year in VB and FB for the MVP Titans. If you are interested, contact eric.denning@k12.sd.us
